HHS honors mothers!

HealthandHome-Planner

Health & Home Services, Inc. President, Kurt Jakusz, has announced that his company is establishing a fund for Women’s Resource Center which will assist with the operational expenses of the Center in memory and honor of the mothers of business co-owners Kurt Jakusz, and Sandy (Jones) Huff, along with, Regional Director and Operations Manager, Wendy (Phillips) Chavez, whose mothers are all named Shirley.  Mr. Jakusz has been a long-term donor and former board member of Women’s Resource Center.  The fund will be known as the “Mama Shirley Fund”

“We have been long time supporters of the Center.  I was looking for a way to continue our support and to honor our mothers. We discussed this and decided that we would do this and have it coincide with Mother’s Day. It is important that we focus on helping women within our own community who may be struggling through life transitions and unemployment. The majority of my employees are women and they are the driving force in my business.  We were all aware that three of us all had mothers named Shirley.  We wanted to say thank you and recognize the importance of women in our lives.  As leaders in the Homecare Industry we appreciate what moms do.  We are very aware of the many challenges women face each day, and invite others to follow us by supporting the Center.”

“We are establishing the “Mama Shirley Fund” at Women’s Resource Center and plan to make a set donation each year on or around Mother’s Day in memory and honor of our Moms. This fund is being established to insure that there will be a place like Women’s Resource Center for women to call their own.  Working with many non-profits, I realize how difficult it is to obtain funding to cover basic operational expenses.  This fund is being set up and designated to cover operational expenses for Women’s Resource Center. We are inviting the public to join us on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 4:30PM to honor all “Mama Shirleys” and Shirley Lowman, mother of Wendy (Phillips) Chavez, and the only living “Mama Shirley” will be in attendance.”

The event will be held at Women’s Resource Center located at 125 3rd St. N.E. in Hickory NC.  Everyone has a special “Mom” in their lives.  Come join us for light refreshments and honor your special Mom.  We encourage you to go to the Women’s Resource Center’s website at www.wrchickory.org to read about our “Mama Shirleys” and to consider a donation to honor your special “Mom”.
