Poetry Hickory to Feature Molly Rice and Writers from WRC Anthology 

Hickory-Local poet, Molly Rice, will read from her work at the March 4 Poetry Hickory event beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse in downtown Hickory.  Joining Mrs. Rice will be several writers whose works have been chosen for inclusion in the anthology Voices and Vision being published later this spring by the Hickory Women's Resource Center.  Some of those reading their work will include Sue Murray, Ellen Ball, Terri Erickson, Dawn McCombs, D. W. Bentley, Scott Owens, Jeanne Ackley, and Susan Huttman.

2296475686_5031300b41_mOrganized in recognition of Women's History Month, this reading will mark the first opportunity readers will have to pre-order copies of the WRC anthology which  is scheduled to debut in May.  One hundred percent of the profits from this anthology will be used to help fund continuing and new WRC efforts to improve the personal and professional lives of women in the Hickory area.  Click here for more info about Voices and Vision
 

Molly Rice

The featured reader for the March event will be Molly Rice, who has taught poetry and theater through workshops, residencies, and traditional classes in hundreds of schools, colleges and organizations throughout the U.S., England, Ireland, Russia, and Hungary.   She has been published in various journals, including Fortnight Magazine and The Stinging Fly,Mill Hill, is forthcoming.  She is currently a theater teacher and director of the Tractor Shed Theater and editor of the literary magazine Indian Ink.  In her first year of instructing at St. Stephens High School, she was named Wachovia Teacher of the Year and made a Claes Nobel Educator.
